Two new favorite quotes

The first:

"The important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become." --Charles Du Bos

The second:
"If you want to build a ship, don't herd people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea." --Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I don't know one iota about Charles or Antoine, but I like the vision they cast for me.

Do you have any favorites quotations? Why are they meaningful to you?

Here are two good ones.1)The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.--Edmund Burke 1729-1797 2) Sin is not hurtful because it is forbidden, but it is forbidden because it is hurtful.--William Penn Dad

Here's a great quote from someone's mother on a blog that I read now and then.

"What you think is out there, ain't out there."

You'll have to read her commentary on it to get the full effect.

In order:

Thanks, Dad. The Edmund Burke quote, as you know, is oft quoted by Mom. She believes it to her core, and it motivates her to act. Go, Mom!
The "William Penn Dad" line cracked me up; thanks for the clarification!

Trisha:
I went to the "conversiondiary" link and found the "What you think is out there . . . "line in its context. Very, very good. I'm going to think on that for a while, because I very regularly visit the land of "green grass" that appears to grow so perfectly on the other side of the fence. Keep 'em coming, sister!

Kathy Bailey:
It's always a pleasure to hear from you! I hope that everything is going well with you and your family. I'm glad you stop by to check in on us; you honor us with your "blog visits"! Keep stopping by!

And since you are here, Kathy, let me say that I love the way you have lived by the principle "Be kinder than necessary..." I will never forget watching you minister to "needy" people at Glenwood. You were always so gracious. I still tell people about you praying with, crying for, hugging on them. Just like Jesus! We love you!

Oh, and I wasn't trying to preach to you, Jana! That quote struck me on so many different levels. We share the same heart, my friend!
